Ballroom Dance
Through Step In Time NM, HCCS students are able to participate in an extracurricular Ballroom Dance program. Learning and practicing the skills for social dance inspires and nurtures self-confidence as well as positive interactions and relationships with people of all ages and abilities. The journey and subsequent transformation to elegant "ladies and gentlemen," along with the sense of accomplishment of all participants and contributors upon the completion of the program, is nothing short of an amazing experience!
There are ten (10) one hour group lessons per semester, including one rehearsal, and one Showcase
event/competition per semester. Students grow in confidence, social skills, and coordination as they are introduced to a variety of dances, including the:

Ms. Elizabeth Wigder, Program Manager and Lead Dancing Instructor
The Program Manager and Lead Dancing Instructor, Elizabeth Wigder, is a former Teaching Artist of the internationally acclaimed Dancing Classrooms program, which originated in New York. She taught ballroom dancing to fifth graders in the Rio Rancho school district. She has worked with children of all ages learning to play classical music on a variety of instruments. The rewards and benefits she has witnessed from student participation in music and dance programs has inspired her to continue to offer children the opportunity of learning life through dance via Step in Time NM. |
